Jewel was a strong working woman of the 1960s. Building an incredibly successful career in the financial industry working for a title company, Jewel carried confidence with her that was contagious to anyone with who she crossed paths with. She lived with her sister, Hazel, in the Copper Young district in Memphis, Tennessee. The spinster sisters found themselves entertaining more than they could have imagined. But with their craftsman-style bungalow with an enormous dining room and a front porch nearly as big, made it difficult to turn people away. Good thing they preferred the doors to be wide open.
